Thoughts on baby powder?

First time mom here and as I was going through all of the things I have for my baby I realized I don’t have any baby powder. I’m wondering if I should pick some up or not

Do not use any talc based powders like Johnson and Johnson. They can cause cancer. I would highly look into the talc powder lawsuit. If you are really wanting to do a powder your best kind are the ones that are starch based powders. Powders are not necessary, the best thing for a baby is a bare butt when they have a rash. If you are not comfortable with that you can do a breast milk bath if you choose to breastfeed. There are also pastes that you can use on their butts.

This stuff is nice. No talc. We live in FL, super humid, so it can be nice when baby is going to be outside and diapers are so stuffy. Also, it's good for the beach. Dries the sand out so it just falls off.

Never bought any. Didn’t think it was necessary. Barrier creams worked fine for us.

Works just as good or better than baby powder. It’s also a ton cheaper.
I only have it for emergencies. As they will eventually get a sore bottom for a bit and it’s nice to keep the moisture off their bum.

We never really used it but whatever you decide to use make sure it's cornstarch based and not talc. Otherwise they are all pretty much the same. Except for the ones that are medicated. You wouldn't need medicated baby powder

We just put a good layer on at night before bedtime when he had his longest stretch in between changes. We never use powder and haven’t missed it at all.

I only use it to get sand off when we leave the beach. I literally don’t even know what else it would be used for 🤷🏽‍♀️

I absolutely used powder under my baby's arms after ever bath and around her neck and in her little thigh rolls. My baby's skin was very sensitive and she had little rolls on her thighs and neck that would get red and irritated with moisture and under her arms would become the same way and I didn't want to risk a yeast infection so I used plant based powder to keep her skin dry.

Like everyone else said, talcum powder is a no-no. I bought a bottle of cornstarch powder when I had my eldest almost six years ago and literally have the same bottle.
I very rarely use it. I have 3 boys between 2-5. The only time I use/have used it is when they are just learning to walk and are still super chubby (all 90th+ percentiles) so they end up with chafing. But they slim down once they start walking so I only end up using it a brief period.
