Would you regret not doing a baby naming ceremony/blessing?
My husband and I are not religious, we don’t go to any kind of church or anything like that. We aren’t against it, we just don’t practice any of it actively.
We plan to do a tree planting ceremony in the spring for him instead of a religious blessing. Some people might think that’s weird but that’s besides the point lol. My mom is saying we should have some kind of ordained minister (catholic im guessing) to speak at this ceremony. She said we’ll regret it otherwise and that events like that unite the family and set the baby up on a good path and gives him traditions. Is that true? Have any of you guys not done this and regretted it?
Btw she is not religious either but still thinks he needs some kind of blessing so that it keeps his options open later in life. I said if he wants to become religious later in life he can still get baptized then..
