I was positive with my first pregnancy and I’m positive again this time. I got IV antibiotics once my water broke late in labor. Our practice doesn’t start giving them until your water breaks. I think they just give one round but I’m not sure. I didn’t even notice them the first time. I had the IV anyway because I got an epidural. This time, I’m planning on going without an epidural so I’m slightly disappointed that I’ll still need the IV for antibiotics.

I was induced for IUGR. My belly/fundal height stopped at 32 weeks and I had to have growth ultrasounds to check his size every week. They finally induced saying he would grow better on the outside! I wish it was a typo, but no 😅 my second made up for it with being a precipitous labor- almost didn’t make it to the hospital!

Was your Induction recommended ? How was it?
And was it 31 hours!? Or is that a typo 😅😅

With my first pregnancy, I was negative. This time around, they said my urine tested positive very early on and due to that, regardless if I test negative now, they recommend antibiotics to be safe (they said sometimes it’s in the bladder but when they swab, that specific sample may not catch the GBS). Reading some of the comments others have shared of their experience, I plan on asking my OB tomorrow if I’ll have an extended hospital stay (I had no idea). With my first, I was out within 24-hours and I find it hard to process that I may have to be in the hospital for possibly 3-days, but we shall see what they say tomorrow. Overall, as long as baby is healthy-I’ll do what I have to, but hopeful everything turns out okay for all of us mama’s! Good luck to you and thanks for asking the question above 💗.

Good luck on Thursday. Hopefully, your OB also says if all is well with you and baby, you both can get discharged after 24-hours. I’m in the same boat as you, she doesn’t mind being with my mom, but we have literally never left her for more than a few hours if that. I’m in Southern California (near Pasadena), so maybe the hospitals will have similar protocols since you’re not too far away? Hope you get good news on Thursday 💗.

Yes! Positive thoughts for us both. Hopefully, we can both have a vaginal birth without complications so we can get back to our toddlers. I did also ask my OB about what some others had mentioned about being induced to make sure the antibiotics were given and she said they won’t induce until after 41-weeks (unless there is a need to do so prior). My due date is November 9th, so coming up! When are you due?

I tested positive this pregnancy. I start antibiotics today and have my induction date for next tuesday. Unless he decides to go breech again. Lol. Then my c section will be next Wednesday.

I honestly don't know. Lol. From what I've read they think there's a possibility it could help? Unless it's a just in case my water breaks with the way things have been going? But I think I'm still getting the IV when I get induced.

I didn’t know you could get antibiotics before going into labor?! Is there a difference between getting them before or during ?

I tested negative last pregnancy but positive this pregnancy. I asked to be induced (electively) at 39 weeks to insure I got a few rounds of antibiotics. So I’m being induced on the 7th🥰 But there is no need to be induced due to GBS so don’t worry about being induced if you don’t want to be!

I’m a super worrier so I felt it would be better for me personally. My mom will also be watching my daughter and she lives an hour away so I’m terrified of my water breaking and having to wait for her to come watch her.

I’m wondering if I should be Induced also! I love 45 min from my hospital and I know it’s important to have antibiotics for a certain amount of time during labor so I’m worried I won’t make it down in time but also scared to be induced 😓

I was positive with my first and I had like 3 rounds of antibiotics through my iv once I was admitted to the hospital before my daughter was born. It was all pretty easy. We did have to stay for 3 days so they could make sure my daughter didn’t have any symptoms, which I was always told was the normal stay time for it. She never had any symptoms or anything.

I just tested positive at 37 weeks and didn’t have it with my first! We’re you induced or did you go into labor naturally?

I tested positive for my first and second but I’m negative this time. I had a couple rounds of antibiotics both times while in labor with my other two kids. I went into labor on my own both times and was just told my my OB to come in as soon as labor started to make sure I received the antibiotics in my IV. My first and I did have an infection and she ended up in the NICU for a week but she came early at 36 weeks and I had a fast labor with her of only 4 hours. My second labor was pretty uneventful and we stayed in the hospital for 3 days just for them to monitor him and he had no complications.

How long was your labor? I’m debating on being induced as I live 45 min from my hospital and worried I won’t make it in time to have antibiotics as long as I should

I just had a very fast birth. They gave me the antibiotics but I don’t believe it was fast enough and I had her within 4 hours. We were both warm with fevers by the time she came out but I don’t think it was completely due to my strep B coming back positive. I think I had a slow leak of my water a few days before that came back negative so they kept sending me home. It was a lot of things at play during that time
