How did you learn to potty train your kid?

Trial and error. 
After many failed attempts at different stages, finally just before my son turned 3, I potty trained my son. So what I did was I stripped him naked for 3 days straight (except bedtime, he wore a pull up) and I placed his own little potty in the living room. And every 1/2 hour I put him on his potty. At first it was super frustrating because he would either sit there for an eternity but not go and then the moment he’d get off the potty, he’d pee (on the floor nonetheless) or he wouldn’t sit on the potty long enough to try to go. So I bribed him with snacks and his tablet. Before long he finally went! I made a big deal out of it, rewarded him with a sticker (his pull ups came with stickers for potty training…eventually I bought a magnetic potty chart on Amazon because he wasn’t in pull ups long) by day 3 of nekked potty training he was going to his potty totally in his own and doing his business. So I decided he was ready for training undies but I think he was kind of confused because we went a step backwards and he was peeing in the undies. So I had to go back to setting a timer and every 30 minutes pulling his undies down and placing him on the potty. But in about a week he was totally potty trained, even at bedtime. He’ll be 4 in January and since he’s been potty trained, he’s only had 2 accidents! So he’s been doing incredibly well with potty training. It certainly helped that I waited until he was verbal enough to really buckle down on the potty training. Him being able to comprehend me and communicate to me when he needed to go made all the difference. Not to say you can’t successfully potty train sooner, you certainly can, but it just wasn’t practical for my lifestyle, being a full time working mom - him going my MIL and SIL’s and having them be consistent with it as well (which they refused to do) so I had to wait until I had Christmas break from work where I had the time and the ability to stay home and be super consistent with it. But I got the naked potty training idea from a YouTuber. In my experience it didn’t totally potty train my son,  it it did help introduce the potty to him and get him to connect the two making actual potty training that much smoother!

Followed my son’s lead. Tried and then backed off. Tried again and backed off again. Then started talking about it ALOT! Just after he turned 3, tried and the rest is history. My advice is to try not to overthink it. If they aren’t ready is isn’t worth pushing.

I bought a course for 35 dollars I have yet to use it 😂 we went full on naked for about a week. Then underwear. Lots of accidents. Lots and lots. But it took him 3 whole weeks to be completely potty trained. (We tried the 3 day potty training method but it took longer than 3 days lol) He loves using the restroom now! He is 2 years old 4 months.

Follows my son's lead. Read up on some basics, asked some friends. 
Both my boys started potty training themselves fairly young, and when we agreed it was time to stop we fully stopped diapers night and day the same day. Both only had a couple of accidents since that.

Yeah, I didn't really learned to do that, I just knew the basics: follow the baby's lead, have a  potty to be prepared and no pressure.  My son said at 2y2m he doesn't want to wear a  diaper anymore. So I agreed and I explained that he has to use the potty and wear underwear.  I wasn't really mentally prepared but if he was , we had to do it. In 4 days he got the hang of it and we had very little accidents. It was around the lock down so he spend a lot of time indoors , but naked 🤣🤣. We still used diapers at night (until he had a clean diaper for 2 months in a row) and when we went by car somewhere. By 2y6m he was completely out of diapers, so for us it was a longer process,  but this is what he was comfortable with.

We followed our son’s lead and did what felt right and worked for our family. For us, it wasn’t being naked for days and it wasn’t a child’s toilet in every room. That may work for some, but it’s not our parenting style. Our son was just over 3 years and fully day and night trained in about 2 weeks. We have a toilet seat with a built in toddler seat that can be up for an adult and down for a child. We just took him on a schedule, praised him a lot, gave him one m&m when he did it, and it just clicked for him I guess.
