Salem’s First Cleft Surgery ❤️
“I have laid my child in a surgeons arms, I have slept upright in a hospital chair, I have listened to the beeping of machines and been thankful, I have smiled through the tears, I have found strength when there wasn’t any left. A mother’s love is the fuel that enables a normal human being to do the impossible.” 🤍

Hey guys, it’s been awhile since I’ve last posted on here, but I just wanted to pop in and give those who follow my sweet girls story a little update. As most of you already know, Salem was born with a cleft lip and palate, as well as several other health conditions. Early this morning she had her first surgery regarding her cleft, and we anticipate many more through out her life. They repaired her lip and did some nose work as well as put in a set of tubes to help drain her ears so she’ll regain full hearing. Although this isn’t our first major surgery, it definitely tops the books for the most painful and scary. She’s in a lot of pain, but they have her on morphine and Tylenol. If you go back and look at my older posts, you’ll see her sweet, wide grin. Today she got her forever smile, and even though her dad and I are sad that the face she was born with has changed, we’re oh so happy that we’ve officially started our cleft journey. It’s a bittersweet feeling. 🤍🥰🤍 Here’s some pictures of the last few days, as well as today.
Right before sending her off for surgery.
Right after. ❤️
