COVID and job

So I was exposed to covid, by two people in my household. I have a sore throat but testing negative on a test. my job is saying I need to come in bc they are short staffed and i tested negative even if i have a sore throat. is it possible that this sore throat is just a coincidence??? maybe just a general cold? it’s really bothering me every time I swallow.
