low iron !?

had my 30 week appointment today & found out i have low iron ! this is my 2nd baby i didn’t experience this with my first , can anyone give me more info on it & what the risks are ? i know the nurse said it could explain a lot on why im always so tired 😞

it just means your iron is low and you need to take iron pills!

I’ve had anemia with all three pregnancies. I take beef liver supplements in the mornings and drink with orange juice, which helps the body absorb the iron. My levels go up after starting the supplements every time!

I have to have iron infusions because the pills don’t help and being so close to my c section date infusions bring it up the fastest

Same here! First pregnancy was picture perfect. This time around I have low iron so I just take an iron pill every morning. Having low iron was giving me horrible restless leg syndrome and tired all the time. I’m still tired all the time but I think it’s because I’m chasing a toddler all day, working, and in the 3rd trimester. Hang in there mama!!

I have low iron this pregnancy too , take one pill a day, I got checked out because I was getting lightheaded all the time

I have severe anemia this time around, had some with my first too as I always had low iron. Hospital only just noticed now as I haven't had a blood test since 12 weeks and baby is measuring small, possible connected. My fennitin levels were 4 🙈 other than feeling tired I felt fine, but on high dose of tablets now. Doctors aren't concerned anyway so I don't think it's a huge deal as long as you are taking the tablets.

As long as you're taking the pills, you're good. I've been anemic 3 out of 4 of my pregnancies. One was low enough that I was on 3 pills a day but for this pregnancy I am on just 1. 
Anemia can make you more tired. It can contribute to low birth weight, preterm birth, anemia in your baby, and possibly heavier bleeding after birth if you're not taking your supplements. But as long as you take your pills as prescribed, you should be fine.
