Does amazon really refund you for an item that’s running late?

You get your money back and get to keep the item?? I saw a video abt this. I’ve had a lot of running late packages lol.

In order to get a refund, you would have to cancel the order. There is a possibility that you may still get the item but chances are, they will stop delivery of it.

I’ve had it happen where it’s been extremely late so I’ve been able to request a refund, and then the item shows up some time later.

A few times I’ve gotten 100% refund on a late item after they said it was likely lost, but a couple weeks later it showed up with the packaging extra f’d up. Every time it was something I needed quick and had no use for when it arrived so late lol

I’ve had it happen. I ordered several large  pillows and they were over two weeks late so I did the “late” option and reordered. Amazon refunded me and after about a month, the missing pillows showed up.

They have credited my account $5 on a few occasions for late packages.

I have but only on items so late they are considered lost. Where I live I don't even have the option for 2 day prime so if I order something via prime it is like a 5-15 day delivery window anymore. If it is way late they mark it as lost and I get a refund but not just like a few days late.

Yes, they refunded the money I paid for my item.
It didn't arrive by the time I needed it and paid for so I told them and got it back

from my experience, 
yes but only if the item shows up as lost on the tracker. in that case amazon will give you an option to refund or wait. if you choose refund the seller usually responds to follow up and gives you a refund and most times tell you that you can keep the item if it ends up showing up
it’s not just of “package is a couple days late here’s a refund and keep the item”

only if a delivery date shows unavailable. they give you the option to wait or keep your money. amazon doesn’t charge you until your order actually ships.
