Only one car ..

How many of you just have one car in your family ? How do you make it work with just one? My husband and I both had our own cars but mine is a piece of junk and finally took a shit and I can’t afford to fix it so now we’re working with just one car and it’s a struggle.

We only had one car with our first baby. Whomever had baby got the car. We walked and rode the bus to work/school. I was in the best shape of my life back then!

My husband and I did the same thing. And since we lived by public transit stations, it wasn't a big deal

we only have 1 car, and I didn't have my license in forever (I had an accident and was scared to drive) I did everything with public transportation or by bike. I just now found a job that is a 15 minutes drive by bike, only 3 minutes by bike from my kid's school.

We did for a long time. I primarily walked everywhere (I loved it) because everywhere I needed to be was in walking distance. When I changed jobs and I then had a further commute, we left earlier to suit my hours and my husband was just at work early. Then I would just go get him after work, his hours were a bit later than mine so it worked out. Then he got a job only 2kms from mine so we just carried on carpooling together. We only sorted out a second car when we moved homes, he changed jobs and our jobs were in complete opposite directions.

We only have one right now too. I’m a sahm so if I know I need the car for something that day I just get up and take him to work in the morning and then do what I need and pick him up when he’s off. Not the most convenient but it works for now

While my husband’s car was in the shop, we only had one for a few weeks. We somehow made it work. My job is a six minute drive away, so I took it to work. He works in NYC during the day. Our town provides a shuttle service to a local train station for city commuters. Sometimes he walked to the shuttle stop and sometimes he took an Uber. Sometimes I picked him up at the train station.

We only have 1 now. I work remotely, my husband works 5 days a week. My husband watches our daughter in the morning, so the car isn’t being used usually then Any appointments, I’ll schedule in the morning and just take time off of work. Any errands, I either go after my husbands home from work, or weekends. There have been a couple occasions I needed a car while my husbands using ours, so I borrow my parents or brothers. We make it work

We just went down to one vehicle actually a few months ago and its pretty much no difference for us. We run our own business though so we have business and personal vehicles. We go everywhere together anyway outside of work so it was literally no change. My sister and her husband did it for years and my parents are back to doing it again. You just make it work. You also get extra time with your spouse too that way, it has a lot of positives.

just going to have to work the same job or find a ride (even if yes family, uber, etc.) for you/him if you can’t get the same job.
