Labor soon?

So I’m 29 weeks and I went to the doctor and he said my cervix was soft and might start to thin out so I was wondering if anyone else went through this and about how long did it take you to get into labor

I’m wondering why your dr is checking you this early. That is no sign of labor being soon and you don’t want it to happen this early.

Something slightly similar happened with me could be a possibility for you but who knows. I was 29 weeks and I went to L&D because I was having contractions and I was spotting they had to check my cervix and they told me my cervix was dilated 1cm and then I went into preterm labor. They were able to stop it thankfully but they told me I’m at risk for preterm labor around 34 weeks. I was sent home on very strict bed rest. Then comes 35 weeks and a week after my baby shower I went to L&D again because I was having severe abdominal pain not knowing it was contractions. They checked my cervix and I was dilated 3cm and they told me I’m having the baby and they won’t stop it or provoke it. I was admitted at 8pm and had him the next day at 4am. He was considered a late premie but was healthy all around and didn’t have to go to the NICU.

Is there a reason why your doctor wanted to check you at 29 weeks? I feel like information is missing on that part. It isn’t normal for a doctor to check you that early. Also it isn’t an indication that you are going to go into labor anytime soon.
