Speech therapy and tongue tie

So first let me say I'm not at all opposed to speech therapy. My oldest actually receives speech services because he was non verbal at 2 years old. But now the pediatrician had pointed out how my 3 year old should get evaluated because at his 3 year old check up the doctor had a hard time understanding him with certain words. Which I will agree, sometimes it is hard to understand every now and then, but it's never been anything that I felt was concerning. However I went along with the evaluation just incase maybe I was absolutely missing something and didn't notice because I'm with my child majority of the time.

So anyways at the evaluation the speech therapist checked him for a tongue tie which I guess he does have a slight one, and she told me we needed to get him in to get it removed. But I just find it weird because he's been to the dentist several times now and not once have they mentioned anything about it, neither has his pediatrician. And I know for a fact his pediatrician would have said something to me because we've been seeing the same pediatrician we had when I had my first child who did have a tongue tie that had to be corrected right there in the hospital after birth because it was causing issues with breast feeding. So idk, part of me feels like it's not something I absolutely need to worry about, I mean he's never had any issues with it, and he does talk he's talks a lot and the only time it's hard to understand him is when he really starts talking fast and a lot at a time. The pediatrician even said it could still have to do with his age but at 3 it should be more clear, but at the same time not every kid is going to be at the same level. The speech therapist even asked how much family and friends could understand him and I said about 70% of the time and she said that by 3 it should be 75-85% but he literally just turned 3 earlyOctober.

So I'm just feeling a little mixed about all of this.
