Baby boy finally came 42+2 đ¤
After a hectic pregnancy (subchorionic hematoma, placenta previa, succenturiate lobe, suspected vasa previa) I finally got cleared of everything at my 33 week appointment. Baby also spent the entire pregnancy so low so everything was looking good god my planned home birth. Then I hit 36 weeks and he decided to pop up and flip breech.
I had weekly ultrasounds to monitor my placenta and his position, and this boy was in a different position every time (transverse either side, breech, oblique). I had 2 successful ECVâs done, that he definitely flipped back out of by the next day đ . Had OBâs and midwives telling me to schedule an induction following an ECV so that I at least could try for a vaginal for sure. I was pretty persistent that when he wanted to come out, he would do the right thing. He wouldnât engage any which way, he was just enjoying himself so I wasnât concerned about going into labor with him being in a bad spot.
He finally flipped himself head down around 40 weeks and stayed there, but he still never engaged. I wound up having to book a post-date induction at 42 weeks. I did the foley bulb followed by oxytocin. It went much better than I was expecting it to, I was honestly expecting the worst by this point. But a total 7 hour labor, I jumped from 4cm to 10cm in about 40 minutes and pushed for 10 minutes and out he came. 8lbs 12oz, 20â long and wrapped in his cord a few times with a knot in there but a perfectly healthy boy. (And such a chill boy might I add)
Heâs the perfection addition to our family and his big sister is so excited that he has finally âpopped outâ
