3 week old sleeping...

Lauren

Looking for some advice. I currently have a 3 week old baby boy. I'm a first time mum and I am looking for some advice in regards to him sleeping. I've read alot about how newborns supposedly sleep for around 18 hours a day but my newborn just doesn't seem to sleep/have deep sleeps. During the night he tends to wake around 9pm, 12am, 3am and 6am.. but it can sometimes take an hour or two to get him back to sleep. He just doesn't sleep easily.. I've rocked him, cuddled him, changed him, left him in his bedside crib, everything I can think of really. Athough he feeds every 3 hours, he (and me) are only getting like 1-2 hours rest time between feeds as by the time he nods off he's up again as he's hungry. He just doesn't seem to like giving in even though it's evident to see he's super tired :-( any advice would be appreciated. I know it's impossible to follow a routine as such at this age but I hate seeing him so tired but fighting it all the time, he seems so restless :-(
