Is this wrong?

Question

My first grader has never had a birthday party with friends before. Her birthday is a few weeks away and she wanted to invite a few friends (our house isn't huge so we couldn't fit the entire class). 
She wants to invite 4 friends from her classroom and one from another class. She rides the bus with 2 of them, so she would give those 2 the invites after school on the bus.
The other 2 she said she would give them before class. I don't have the parents contact information or even the kids full names otherwise I would just text them. 
Is this wrong? We can only host a few kids in our home and can't afford or fit her entire class of 21 kids plus their families.

Um no ! A few friends would be perfect for her ! You don't want all of those people in your house

If you’re asking about the way she’s giving the invitations and worried about hurt feelings, my advice would be to email her teacher and ask the best way to go about it. She or he might be willing to help discreetly get the invitations to the other girls during a time when others wouldn’t see and feel left out.

Are you asking if it's wrong to just invite a couple of kids rather than her whole class? Absolutely not. Almost no one invites the whole class. Most parents give kids a number of kids they are allowed to invite and the kid chooses their closest friends.
It's not like you're letting her invite all but one or two kids in her class. There is nothing wrong with this at all.

I'd also tell your daughter not to talk about the party at school.. where I am from all of the parties so far this year have been entire class parties (so either we will have one or won't do one at all... if I have one it will be a cheap thing, £30 venue and £100 on food max! Party gifts will be around 2-3 each) and if they aren't going to be, the teachers ask that no invites are given out at school/ that the children don't talk about it etc

Definitely not wrong. My kids have never been in a class that big so I’ve never had that worry. My oldest is in 3rd grade and has 8 kids in her class my middle is 4 year old preschool with 6 kids and my so. Is 3 year old preschool with 8 kids. This is the biggest classes they have been in. Last year my middles had 4 kids in her class!
With that being said my oldest has always sent one to everyone in class. We already knew who would come and who wouldn’t but she still wanted to. This past year both my girls could invite 2 friends being they were having a party together. Which are the ones we know would show up. 
Don’t feel bad especially with such a big class. I’d talk to the teacher and see if maybe they can get parents name and number? I know one year when we sent invites to everyone I asked if the teacher would stick in the kids folders she said if there is one for everyone she could but if not then she couldn’t. Idk if it was her thing or the schools.

if she wanted to invite the whole class, I'd do location at a local park more space but since it's just 4 kids at home, I would say handling the invitations privately not in front of other kids which could become a topic of conversation. kids excitedly talking about so so's bday could become hurt for other uninvited kids. just tactfully ask for parent's info and reach out to them

I’ve never had a birthday party but I’ve never been to one where the whole class was invited lol I feel like that’s just a tv thing tbh
