Long Story.Need Advice.Experienced Persons Only Please.
I’d like to share that after 28 years of life I only understand a little more about doctors than I used to. I wish they taught us these things in school, because I bet most of our parents aren’t the best resource for this.
To the point, though.. I have avoided the OB GYN since my early 20’s because from the age of 12 through 20, they all treated me like I was an idiot and they failed to explain anything to me about my reproductive health. The only solution to any problems I brought to them was birth control prescriptions. Like, is that all they do all day, write birth control prescriptions?!?
I have struggled with very irregular cycles and abnormal bleeding from my very first period. I would go two to four months without bleeding but I would have all the symptoms of pms like all the time. When I finally got a period, it lasted two to four weeks and the flow would be very light brown or pink colored. The consistency was not like blood but more like discharge most of the time. Rarely did I have regular blood color or flow.
Again, every OB GYN I saw about these problems gave me the same exact solution. Even when I told them that birth control was making all of my issues worse over time.
I have symptoms of PCOS but never had the cysts to my knowledge. I was given an ultrasound for this at 15 when I was having very severe cramps.
Fast forward to now, at age 28. I have read countless articles. Read countless threads on Eve. Engaged in countless conversations with other women. Watched countless YouTube videos about periods and fertility. Yet I still cannot find the proper help. I tried to conceive during a three year relationship with absolutely no success. On the bright side though, I’m glad it wasn’t successful. Now I’m in another serious relationship with my soon-to-be husband and we’ve been TTC for a year and a half with no luck.
I experienced a traumatic period with lots of blood loss accompanied by pregnancy-like symptoms about a year ago. It terrified me and made me feel as if I’ll never be blessed enough to conceive. My sister and cousin(both have conceived) say it was a miscarriage or chemical pregnancy. Still, I would not see an OB GYN.

recently I tried taking Vitex for a few months and it gave me a period about every three weeks. I was scared that I shouldn’t take it long term so o stopped after the third period to see if things would be normal on their own. I’m currently on day 56 without bleeding, just spotting and pink discharge. Should I start again or wait to see my CNM?
As I get closer to my 30’s I am also growing more desperate to and anxious about being able to conceive. I scrolled through many doctors on my healthcare app and found a few different types of doctors. The two that stood out the most were CNMs and Endocrinologists. I booked an appointment for a highly rated CNM and I will see how that goes, but I’m wondering if I should also see an endocrinologist or is there another specialist I don’t know of that could help me conceive. I have also considered a Homeopath.
Please share your thoughts, experiences and opinions if you’d like. I would sincerely appreciate it as I don’t have many friends or maternal influence in my life anymore. Also, please refrain from sharing negative comments if you do not agree with anyone else’s responses. Thank you all!
