Going to catholic school made me atheist.

Getting diagnosed with a mental illness. My whole life I was a very extreme devote Christian. It was like waking up and realizing you played for a crazy, judgemental team. I was so turned off and I'm still turned off.

At first I was just angry and rebelling. But then I actually read what was being preached and I didn’t agree at all.

I realized I was atheist at 8yo, believing just didn't make sense to me.

What “made” me an agnostic/atheist/whatever included childhood trauma, experiences with homophobia, watching racism happen before my very eyes, etc. Most of these things happened “in the name of God” according to the antagonists. When you think about it realistically and logically, organized religion seems like a way to feel less scared about the afterlife.
