It really depends, which each child the price got lower and lower not because I recycled things but because I saw how pointless half the shit we buy for babies was lol🤦🏼♀️, my biggest expenses for this baby were the bassinet playpen combo and car seat but someone on a budget could very well keep it below 500 if you cheaper end of things which I promise baby doesn’t even know what quality is as a newborn so they do not care.

More than that… even for the initial stuff for my second baby we spent well over $2,000…

We got everything second hand or given to us- I think all we bought was a new rocker and eventually a crib (but we bought that when she was 4 months) - so like $700 for the rocker? Seriously buy nothing new!! It’s such a waste they use it for such a short period of time. Even the car seat was given to me by a friend who used it in their second car so we knew it wasn’t in an accident and we gave it back to them for their second. We did buy an extra base for my husbands car (6$60??) Now I became obsessed with Hanna Andersson and Boden clothes so I might spend 400-500 a year ?!? Or more… probably more, but I also buy much of it second hand and resell most of it so tend to only lose about $100-200. Utelize Poshmark, Kidizen, local second hand stores and facebook marketplace

I spent a lot with my first and didn’t use half of what we brought, this time I had some bits from my daughter but all in all I’ve probably spent close to £2000 including a new crib, travel system, new clothes etc I’m officially finished now but it is costly. If you can get second hand definitely do, I always said I would get second hand this time round but I just am impulsive 😂

Jonestly we didn't buy much because she was the first grandbaby. A LOT of those gifts had a bunch, and I mean a BUNCH, of the same thing because not only was she the first grand baby, but my mom's entire school staff bought tons of things and sent about $800 in gift cards that we used for things. Not to mention my husband extreamly large family. We got gifts from "family" members that were so far removed they aren't even related anymore. We received gifts for MONTHS. On our list of bare essentials, we had planned to pay for everything ourselves, we had about $1,200 of things to get what our oldest needed. We could have gotten everything for $800 if we had gone used, but I'm a germaphobe so I couldn't go that route. We were able to reuse everything for our youngest other than the crib, mattress, sheets, mattress covers, dresser, and changing pad. Everything we needed was gifted to us again. We were very fortunate and used our good fortune to help other young families/young single moms instead.

I bought EVERY single thing for my first baby brand new. Nobody handed down anything to me unfortunately and I’d say I probably spent well over $2,000 total. With my next baby I definitely won’t be spending that much again now that I know what I will and will not actually “need”.

$2,000 if we bought everything ourselves. Safety and non-toxic items are very important to us so we sometimes got the most expensive things, especially with the car seat and crib.

We spent wayyyy more than that. It’s okay to but gently used baby items and clothes however certain items, such as car seats and bottles, should always be purchased brand new.
