PP sex - since it’s a hot topic
Let me preface this post by saying: I don’t intend on having sex until my check up, I’m not interested in sex right now. I’m tired, I have an infant attached to my nipples constantly, I’m bleeding and feel unsexy. I’m not fishing for approval on having sex at all! :)
Rightio, so, I’ve seen a few posts on this group about PP sex at 2-3 weeks, and many comments saying how bad it is, it’s not advised etc and people usually comment back to those who did it early lecturing them on the risks & call it survivor bias. Whilst I don’t disagree, medical advice is different everywhere and seems to cause confusion among many of us.
My doctor and midwife both told me I can have sex as soon as I feel ready. There was no mention of waiting 6-8 weeks and they even started the contraception chat with me. But I live in the UK 🇬🇧. The NHS website also states you can have sex as soon as you feel ready. The demographic in this app seems to be largely American, where advice differs.
So I’m basically wondering what the reason is for the differing advice, why American doctors are against doing it before 6 weeks PP but UK doctors are essentially saying, get at it as soon as you like. Is it truly “survivor bias” when other countries offer conflicting information to PP mothers?
