Storing breast milk in milk jug
My baby will be almost 6 months old when my MIL comes to our house to keep her for the weekend while my husband and I go Christmas shopping out of town.
I’m trying to figure out the best way for her to do bottles while I’m gone.
Here’s my thoughts: clean out an empty milk jug, poor my breast milk in there that I pump within the 3 days prior to leaving so that it’s still safe in the fridge throughout my time away, have MIL poor from the jug however much she needs each feeding.
If she runs out, she can thaw a bag that’s already frozen.
Is this okay? My thinking is that it’s similar to the pitcher method, right?
Thanks!
Update: thanks all. What I ended up doing was saving all my pumped milk from Thursday and Friday that week and putting it in premade bottles. Each bottle was 4 oz and I think I had 8 bottles ready to go in the fridge. Once my MIL ran out of milk in the fridge on Saturday evening, she started thawing bags from the freezer to use as needed. This worked well for us.
