Foods and pregnancy

lyss

I have done the wrong thing which was looking up online all the foods I should be avoiding. It talks about EVERYTHING being bad for baby. Oregano, (obviously raw and unpasteurized things but that’s not what I am focused on) fennel, different oils, I am driving myself crazy with worry making sure I know exactly what things I cannot eat and all that. It says because it can stimulate uterine contractions or toxicity.

My question is have any of you stayed away from all the things for precaution or did you just stay away from unpasteurized and raw foods and were just fine? Help ease my mind lol.

Btw my diet is vegan

Most of those “don’t eat this and that” are outdated or in reference to LARGE quantities.Keep it simple. No drugs, no alcohol, no raw meat. That’s it. Moderation is key.

I fell into this with my first pregnancy and I was terrified to eat. From what I’ve seen the big ones are raw or undercooked meats and fish. There is a listeria outbreak going on in the US for deli meats currently so be aware of that (I avoid deli meat in pregnancy heated or not)

Registered dietitian here. You only need to avoid raw meats and shellfish, unpasteurized dairy Check out @prenatalnutritionist@theprenatalnutritionlibrary on Instagram !Also if you’re vegan, consider seeing a dietitian to talk about getting all your nutrients in during pregnancy
