Possible APS
I have not yet been tested, but I’m honestly hoping I have APS and it can explain our losses.
Our first pregnancy was totally healthy/normal. No complications.
Second pregnancy - sudden MC at 14 weeks.
Third pregnancy - started bleeding at 12 weeks, but they suspect baby passed 6-8 weeks
Fourth pregnancy - healthy, but I took baby aspirin for first 18 weeks based on one doctor’s recommendation, but stopped based on another. Not sure if taking it the first 18 weeks saved our baby or not.
Fifth pregnancy - baby passed away at 8 weeks, D&C at almost 10. Did not take any baby aspirin.
Idk how likely it is that I have APS or not, I don’t get tested for another week and a half when I have my follow up from my surgery. Is is it weird I hope I have it? A few things that stand out to me that make me think it’s possible I have it:
1) When I MC at 14 weeks, the placenta came out in pieces. I almost hemorrhaged 3 weeks later from retained tissue. Given APS can cause issues with placenta, maybe that’s an explanation?
2) With both our earlier losses, I had heavier than “normal” implantation bleeding. From what I’ve read, APS can affect implantation.
3) I also almost hemorrhaged with our second loss. Again maybe APS is an explanation?
Idk what I’m looking for exactly, I hate waiting and wondering. I’m curious if anyone that has been diagnosed has had any similar complications/MCs. Or if anyone has had a healthy pregnancy prior to diagnosis. I know this won’t change whether or not I do have it, but asking these questions gives me something to do with all this anxious energy.
