Day/Night Confusion
My baby is only two weeks old so I know it will take some time, but does anyone have tips for correcting day/night confusion?
During the day she falls asleep immediately after she feeds and nothing I do wakes her. I’ve tried undressing her, changing her diaper, tickling, blowing in her face, running a cool washcloth over her, bright lights, going outside, even took her in the shower with me today and she didn’t rouse at all.
But at night she eats and then I change her diaper (because she always poops while feeding) and then she is WIDE AWAKE for an hour or more no matter what I do. I’ve tried swaddling, wearing her, I use a red light and keep it dim, I don’t talk or do anything stimulating. She’s just completely wide awake and if I lay her down she screams, so I end up sitting there holding her until she falls asleep and then it’s usually only about 30 mins before it’s time to feed her again.
I’m sick to my stomach with exhaustion. I can’t sleep during the day when she sleeps because I have a toddler too. I know I might just need to wait it out, I know it’s common and normal, but if anyone could share something that worked for them that I might not have tried yet, I’d love to hear it.
