RSV Anxiety?

Hi Mamas. Is anyone else experiencing significant anxiety about babies catching RSV and how do you manage it? Especially those with older sibs in daycare or school. I am finding this worry very overwhelming

Unfortunately my baby has RSV right now. She’s almost 7 weeks old. It’s been rough and we’ve had some really bad scares. We were in the ER once already for her breathing and so so many doctors appointments for mucus in her left lung. She’s doing much better now on the nebulizer.

My 7 week old girl just spend a week in the hospital with Rsv. Our oldest was in daycare, caught it and gave it to her. We tried our hardest when he comes home to emphasize washing hands and changing clothes but the doctor says not much else we can do. It’s just running rampant in the country right now. It was scary seeing her in the icu on oxygen and iv but we are home now and she’s so much better. Our oldest too not only caught rsv from daycare but also got the flu and an ear infection . The only thing I regret is not getting his flu shot earlier. We were so worried about Covid we didn’t even think about the flu

I tried my best, but my little guy caught it when he was just a month old. With 3 older kids going to church and school it was just so difficult to keep the germs away. I will say, however, that we got super lucky. I took him to the doctor because of my own fear of RSV and his bark like cough. The nurse said she didn’t think he had RSV since there weren’t any other symptoms (no fever, eating fine) but the doctor had her call me when I was on my way home to bring him back and test him. So we turned around, they tested him, and sure enough he was positive for RSV. They said to just keep an eye on him, and if he got worse to immediately go to the ER. Thank God, he just got better, never worse. It was really scary though! Just knowing what *could* happen.

In fact, the day we got home from the hospital my toddler came down with a cold. I am 99% sure it was RSV. It lasted two weeks! She had a fever for several days, body aches, chills… she was coughing so bad it was causing her to throw up, she was getting bloody noses, it was a MESS!!! We literally just brought baby home and my toddler was very sick. The baby ended up getting sick at 2 weeks. I borrowed a friends Owlet to use at night. Baby was coughing, wheezing, has a double ear infection, and had boogies coming out of her eyes (her eyes were crusted shut after sleeping). I was frantic! It absolutely terrified me. The Owlet gave me so much comfort. I was taking her temp constantly. Thankfully it passed after a week, but man, I was paranoid!

You have every right to be worried rsv is VERY bad this year my 2 month old just got over it. She was hospitalized for almost a week because of it and couldn’t breath well without help and had to be transferred via helicopter to a larger hospital. So please don’t be afraid to say no to people. Its definitely not worth the risk.

My first born got it at 3 months so this go around we aren’t going go any family parties. My daughter is usually sick once a month and when she is, I tend to just pray baby won’t get it. She’s congested right now but I feel that may be from the heater drying out the air. I have since colostrum frozen so I give her some of that too to help her fight whatever she has. & I was also sick when I came home from the hospital, so I know my colostrum & milk probably already has a lot of antibodies in it to help her fight any illness

Not trying to scare anyone but… We just spent 3 nights in the childrens hospital with my 7 week old for RSV. It was my worst fear. I have 2 older kids and my son brought it home from school. I also had severe anxiety over her catching it but unfortunately there isn’t a way to guarantee they won’t. If baby starts sounding congested or develops a cough then take baby in to be checked. We got tested on a Tuesday and by Friday we were life flighted to the childrens hospital. She needed oxygen for 2 days. I didn’t sleep for 4 days because I don’t have the owlet sock.

I am so paranoid that my 4 week old will catch it as my neice did at 5 weeks old and spent 2 weeks on ITU, when she initially took bad she needed rescucitating 💔 I couldn’t imagine seeing him like that. so when his older brother was visiting I was asking him to not touch the baby and wash his hands all the time, he said your house isn’t made of gold 🤣!
