Anyone else age 37+ ?

Question

So according to the charts I’m “advanced maternal age”… in other words I’m OLD 😅
I don’t know anyone else my age having babies so I can’t ask questions.
Do we get different treatment than if we were in our early 30s or in our 20s?
Like do we get more tests? More frequent ultrasounds? What’s been your experience?
Is there anything additional I should know or keep an eye out on?

I think at the start they run extra tests and determine if you’re high risk or not. They will also recommend getting an NIPT done to test for Trisomy 13, 18 and 21 as the chance of those increases with age.

I had my first at 36, and I’ll have my second, God-willing, at 38. I had more checkup appointments than standard, and I did the NIPT testing around 14 weeks like everyone said. I did end up with high blood pressure in the last couple weeks of my pregnancy. Didn’t end up having to do anything about it, just monitor it to make sure it didn’t get out of control. If you can get your hands on a blood pressure cuff, I’d recommend it, especially in the 3rd trimester. Mine stayed high for the first week or so after birth too. I was induced at 39.

I'm 39 and pregnant with my second. My first is 7! At every Dr appointment I hear "at your age" allllll the time. Yes, I know how old I am. But I'm 11 weeks 2 days today. I've had 2 ultrasounds and everything is great. Extra bloodwork was done due to HG. I have extremely low blood pressure (maybe from dehydration) but my OB is sending me to cardiologist and also to an endocrinologist because my thyroid level is really low. But honestly I think everything is messed up because I was throwing up all day every day for 6 weeks straight. I'm finally feeling better and all the other issues are subsiding. I have been seeing my OB every 2 weeks though until everything is back to normal.

I am 35 be 36 in January. We are considered advanced because our quality of eggs starts to go down so high risk for chromosomal abnormalities,m and other complications. ￼ I just had to go to an advanced maternal specialist and do some labs and after my 12 week scan if I would like I can be referred to my normal ob.

My friend had her son at 42. They just try to do more testing because the “risk” for complications is a little higher. And it’s more so due to the age of your eggs. She told me she had all the standard testing, and just more frequent ultrasounds than the typical schedule. She has an able amazing 6 yr old now. 
My mom had my brother at 37. Again no complications.

My stepmom had my sister at 49. She was considered high risk because of her age/age of the eggs. She had to do more ultrasounds especially in the last trimester and they tested her for everything, but I have a 10 year old happy, healthy sister! My stepmom says she wishes she didn’t worry so much, the doctors scared her but everything was fine!

I’m 37, I’m already high risk because I’ve had 5 c sections as of 2021. My last pregnancy I had ultrasounds every 4wks. Then every 2-3 weeks after 20wks. And every week at 28wk until I had baby at 36wks. They do more genetic test to make sure baby don’t have any genetic abnormalities. I have mines in 2wks. But I’m use to have a lot of scans since my 4th baby.

Hey there, I'm 36 and my doctor told me that I am considered "high risk" because of age (and first timer). I think everything is essentially the same for us but greater emphasis on genetic testing for chromosomal abnormalities, and my doctor said I need to start taking baby aspirin because even though my blood pressure is normally excellent, she said 35+ are at a higher risk for preclampsia.

I'm 38, I had my first ultrasound at 7 and half weeks. My doctor ordered the Maternity 21 genetic test and a more advanced ultrasound performed by our hospital. I'll hoping to get the genetic results tomorrow and the advanced ultrasound sound is scheduled for week 12.

Congrats! This is my second time as an old pregnant lady. I had my 2nd daughter at 36 and I’ll have my 3rd baby after I turn 41.
There were two main differences I remember:
(1) more ultrasounds in the 3rd trimester. I want to say at least 2 or 3 but will have to go back and look at my charts to confirm. In my opinion, it’s a major perk because otherwise you don’t have anymore after the 20 week scan. By the end we could see my daughter’s hair on her head!! It was so cool (and explained the intense heartburn) 
(2) my doctor said it would be safest to induce at 39 weeks if I did not go into labor naturally before then. I didn’t and was induced right at 39 - super easy labor and healthy baby who is now a healthy 3 year old.
I did the genetic testing with all my pregnancies, so that was no different in my case. 
I also had a tougher time “passing” the 1 hr glucose test…but I also forgot to fast and messed it up. Passed the 3 hour test no problem, but do not recommend it!
If I think of anything else I’ll write again, but in general my AMA pregnancy was much easier than my “young lady” pregnancy. I had placenta previa with my first and every appointment was terrifying. My AMA was easy breezy and hope yours is too! Enjoy it!
