Doppler

I can find my placenta sound and the machine can display the heart rate but I can’t hear the heartbeat. Does anybody have this struggle too?

If you can't here the heart rate then it's likely the doppler is not giving an actual heart rate reading and is falsifying a number. This is what makes dopplers so dangerous for home use. I'm a midwife so have spend a lot of time using a doppler. I have put gel onto hospital grade dopplers, turned it on and then laid them on a bench to assess fetal position and the doppler has told me a heart rate. I've put a doppler on myself and it's given me a false heart rate reading of 200bpm while I'm sitting in a computer chair. This is not a fault of the doppler, it's just the way the equipment is made to add a number to anything it might think is a fetal heart. At work I would never believe the number the doppler says and always assess fetal heart rate independently.

If you can’t hear the heartbeat then the Doppler isn’t correctly identifying the heartbeat x

What if the number that’s showing on my Doppler is accurate to the same heartbeat that I see during an ultrasound, my ultrasounds always say between 138-146 (5 ultrasounds done till date) and can’t heart a heartbeat on the Doppler but the number that it picks up is always in between the range of the ultrasounds

I got one and tried once per week from 12 weeks. We were able to find her consistently starting around 14 weeks. Try it with a really full bladder. That helped me!

It’s so frustrating because the heartbeat will be showing and the Doppler will be making whooshing sounds because of the placenta but i can’t hear my babies heart beat. I guess it’s still a good sign i can at least hear the placenta and see the heart rate tho. I’m 13 + 5

Do u happen to know where the placenta is located? Like at the back of your uterus or the front etc?

The doppler will have stuff on the screen but it is not accurate, the numbers don’t mean anything at all. Even when you hear your own heartbeat with it, the number is always wrong. You just have to keep trying, it gets easier the bigger baby gets
