Today my 5 year old came home from school and told me she touched someone else’s private parts. I don’t know what to do, I had a talk with her and told her it was a very bad thing to do and I told her to never do it again. I also punished her for the day, she’s sleeping as she’s upset but I can’t stop worrying. I feel absolutely horrible, I have had talks with her about her body parts and the proper names, also about not letting anyone touch her private parts. I believe that I did tell her not to touch anyone else but I’m in such a high anxiety state that I don’t remember if I did and I’m thinking that if I didn’t this is why she did it. When I asked her why she did it she told me she didn’t know. I asked her if she has been touched by anyone and she says no, I’m a SAHM and we’re in a different country from all family and friends so we never have visitors. The only interaction she has with people who aren’t family is at school. She told me the girl threatened to tell the teacher but she didn’t so I am thinking I should tell the teacher myself. My husband keeps saying it’ll be fine but I can’t help but feel horrible that this has happened. I do understand that kids sometimes explore and do things like this I just don’t want the other girl to have trauma because of something my kid did. Please help with any advice as I can be a bit anxious and obsess about things and I don’t want to overload my daughter about this but I have been stuck for 3 hours in the same spot unable to move and afraid of what May come of this.
