Pregnancy/ birth story

I would like to share my story with you guys!

This was my third pregnancy, normal pregnancy, well so I thought. At my anatomy scan at 21 weeks I found out my baby has (gastroschisis) which is a birth defect in which the baby's intestines extend outside of the abdomen through a hole next to the belly button.

I was heartbroken, scared. I didn’t know what to expect. I honestly thought of the worst even though survival rate is 90% with this birth defect. My whole pregnancy every single day I was scared I would lose my baby..

Well at 36 weeks I gave birth to my first boy, it was such a different birth experience once baby came out they laid him on me for about a couple of seconds then he was rushed to the NICU. He was born with both large and small intestines out also his stomach. He weighed 6lbs1oz which was a good size since babies with this defect tend to be smaller.

After he was rushed to the nicu a silo bag was placed which held his intestines and stomach. He had surgery at 7 days old. After surgery was a waiting game. At 10 days old I got to hold my baby for the first time at day 17 he started feeds and at day 49 he came home from the nicu!! He is the most perfect boy ever!!
