Exclusively pumping
I posted on here about 2 weeks ago when my LO was born. I was having severe pain with feeding to the point where I wanted to cry, baby wasn’t eating enough and lactation consultants at the hospital told me to keep trying that he may have a tongue tie and NOT to pump with no reason why. By the time I got home from the hospital when my milk came in my breasts were SO engorged it looked like I had DD implants (I’m an A before pregnancy) and it was so painful. I went to the pediatrician with my son the day after I got home and told them that the LC told me not to pump and the pediatrician was like why? Please pump! So I got home and I pumped and it felt soooo good to relieve the engorgement and I decided that I would just stick to pumping/ bottle feeding to make sure baby was getting enough food. This way I know how much he’s getting every feed since I know I wasn’t emptying. Turns out he doesn’t even have a tongue tie he just has a shallow latch hence the pain and lipstick nipple he was giving me. I tried again breastfeeding the other day with a nipple shield and it fucked my shit up again after healing 😩 I’ll probably try again once he’s a bit older but for now exclusive pumping is what works best for us. Anyway- any other FTM can offer advice on how to stay sane while doing this? I’m only using 1 pump right now and cleaning it after each use is a pain in the ass especially in the middle of the night. Any way I can skip night pumps? My boobs hurt so bad by 3 am I feel like I don’t have a choice but to pump.
