Anyone have this bacteria before?

Question

I did lab work with my doctor since I’ve had a new partner and he told me I had a bacteria called something like e strip b I just know it was called strip but I forgot the rest. He said I could get it from anything really but I do have to take amoxicillin to get rid of it. Can anyone help me understand what I may have?

Group B streptococcus. It is a common bacteria found in the body and is quite normal. It can be found in many places. Not everyone has the same presence in same areas but it's nothing to worry about. Sometimes it just goes on its own. The only time you would need to mention it where it may be a concern is if you are pregnant, if its affecting someone who is elderly or the very young as it can make them quite ill. If you are pregnant or trying for pregnancy, just mention to midwife. May give a course or antibiotics, just to prevent the baby getting the infection at the time of labour. In any other case they don't usually give antibiotics unless you have symptoms that are troubling you that they believe might be being caused by this bacteria. It's very common though so not to worry.

Group B streptococcus? 
That is a normal bacteria that you get while pregnant, (not all women get it) it is not a sexually transmitted disease but it is very contagious and deadly for a baby delivered vaginally if not put on the right medication during delivery. 
You can also get this while not being pregnant, from having intercourse where your body colonized the bacteria in your rectum, vaginal, and other areas. 
There’s nothing to worry about..  
some doctors may prescribe antibiotics. 
If your concerned don’t be afraid to ask the doctor. If they don’t answer adequately consult another doctor.
