What would cause my 10 month old to wake up with gunky eyes?

We all had a cold recently.. but other than that idk why her eyes would be so gunky… it looks like a concerning amount in my opinion but idk

My 6 month old has been sick for the past weeks(1st with mostlikely a cold and 2nd strep(got from older sister) and he has been getting this every so often for the oast two weeks, mostly when he wipes his snots (before i can wipe his nose) and they get i to his eyes. I just use boogies wipes to clean it up and good to go. 
I can also assure you my son DOES NOT have pink eye. 
If you notice his eye is getting red and just doesnt look good take him to the doctor because that could be pink eye.

Looks like pink eye. When he was younger, my son always got pink eye after he had a cold.

Blocked tear duct 
Our babe had blocked tear ducts and it looked just like that 
Our doctors office told us to Boil and cool water so it’s sterile, store in a closed container (good for 24 hours) Use clean cotton ball to wipe gunk away 
Give your pediatrician a call to make sure it’s not pink eye
