Dads get more praise
This never bothered me before, but right now I’m going through yet another miscarriage and so everything is bothering me.
My husband is a GREAT dad. I mean really excellent. He’s an equal parent/partner, and our daughter adores him like nothing else. Often, she “prefers” him over me. I get it, he’s great!
But I’m tired of hearing it from others. Family and friends - they see how much my daughter wants to be around her dad and they tell him what a great dad he is. He is a great dad. But I am also a great mom. I never hear about that.
I’ve been thinking about a way to respond that points out the outdated thinking that men parenting is unexpected… or at least challenges one’s beliefs or why they’re ignoring my contribution and praising my husband. How would you respond ? Is it worth responding ?
