So im african married to an american husband. Although he says he loves where i come from and it looks like he does, but i cant help but feel he thinks he is above me. In all our arguments that are not cultural differences, he keeps saying they are and says things like “we dont do that here” “this is not africa” “this is not back home” “this is america, no one does that here”. Ive been living in america for 20 yrs now and ive been with my husband for 10 years, i feel so foreign here. He talks so down to me like i used to live on a freakin tree. All the things he stresses about are literally differences that any couple would have american or not, even siblings are different although they grow up in the same household. It makes me want to divorce him.
