Getting to Sleep! Make it a priority

One of the most important things you can do to improve your life, your energy, your resilience, your health and everything about you, is to make sure you are getting enough quality sleep. How much needed is different for everyone.

I’ve struggled throughout my life getting to sleep easily. There were times I even convinced myself that I don’t need to sleep too much. “Sleep when I die” 😆 I tried everything from gummies, medications, teas, sex, showers, and alcohol. When it all failed,

I felt crappy all the time. I gained weight and couldn’t concentrate. I wasn’t the nicest person to be around.

I believe all things in moderation and balance, sleep doesn’t heal everything, but some very important processes happen when we sleep so we must prioritize this time for our healing and recovery each and every day. Poor sleep disrupts the circadian rhythm and damages the gut Microbiome and gut health so I became determined to change my old ways.

Meditation has really helped me get better sleep. But it’s not easy and can be hard to do.

I’m a busy person, and I feel like I have to always be doing something. I multitask so well that I forgot how to stop and take a break from time to time. Sometimes I’m anxious just thinking about “not doing anything.” How can I possibly do that?

Well this year I learned my lesson that if I don’t prioritize myself and take my body serious, I won’t be here to care for anyone else…

Allowing my anxiety and stress to take over, my sleep schedule all over the place, and constantly being on the go, put my body in a cortisol overdrive. So many things got thrown off, I was not only tired all the time no matter what I ate or drank for energy, I gained weight overnight 🤣, my sex drive ran off, and I lost a baby. Now all of that wasn’t necessarily caused only by my lack of sleep, but I understand the link between my sleep and the negative effects on my body. So I’m eager to share what I’ve been doing to get back on track. My bedtime alarm reminds me to wind down beginning at 9:30pm. I try hard to stick to my routine daily. I use a cool BrainTap headset to calm and declutter my brain. It not only helps to calm the brain but it helps me to sleep quicker and better throughout the night. There are so many other benefits

* More control over my emotions

* having More focus in every area of my life

* Deep relaxation and peace of mind in minutes

Pain management, concentration better, patience improved with my son and my husband, better communication, my list goes on.

I’m enjoying better sleep now and even when I have a rough day, using BrainTap really helps me to slow down and reflect but not dwell on negative emotions or experiences.

What are some ways you get to sleep?
