HYCOSY EXPERIENCE

Chloe

I just wanted to write about my experience of a HyCosy. I’ve worried about this all week and was absolutely dreading it. Some stories I read online said it was uncomfortable, others said it was the worst thing ever.

For me, the most uncomfortable part was when they put in the catheter and inflated the balloon. Instant period pains, sharp and strong… but they eased off within a minute maximum.

Another strong period cramp as the dye was injected into the womb and fallopian tube, but again nothing unbearable.

Everyone is different and has different thresholds to pain. But this is another box ticked for some people who are TTC and have struggled (through infertility, ectopic pregnancy etc)

I had this due to an ectopic in 2020 which resulted in the loss of my right tube.

Written for any women who have this scheduled or who are considering it. It’s over so quickly and another step to getting your baby ❤️ it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. I took pain relief 1 hour before my procedure. It took no more than 15 minutes (that’s for an internal scan, plus hycosy)

The sonographer also told me that increased fertility has been reported by some women after this procedure and she said this is because the dye can ‘flush out’ the tube as we can get a build up of mucus or debris. Super interesting!

Baby dust and good luck to all ✨
