Expired test strips making inaccurate results?
I had GDM with my 1st, and now that I'm pregnant again I sort of assumed I'd have it this time as well. At the ~19 week mark my doctor told me to eat as if I have it as a precaution until I could test several weeks later.
I changed my diet and started testing myself at home with my finger pricker. I had some normal and some high, but really noticed that foods I'd been eating the first time around were giving unusually high readings now.
Then, 6 weeks later, I went in for my glucose tolerance test (drink the 50g toxic sludge and get blood drawn an hour later( and my results came back perfectly within the range. It was 109 (range 67-135 I believe). So my doc says I don't have GDM.
I COULD NOT believe it so I started eating some foods that I know would normally spike me, like pizza or toast and then tested with my kit. My readings are still high.
I checked my test strips and they expired in 11/2021 😅
Anyone have experience with GTT giving incorrect results or is it more likely my home testing is wayyyy off because of my expired strips?
