Night Terrors?!?!

Question

My daughter has been waking up every day in the middle of the night screaming,crying, kicking. Only wants me but very particular about what I can do to help her. Has this happened to your little one? What can be the cause?

A couple months ago our kiddo was waking super distressed and nothing we could do would sooth. They wanted dad but didnt want dad, wanted a book but threw the book, wanted a toy but didnt...etc... found out it was an overwhelming emotional development and kiddo didnt know how to handle or cope with the emotions. We taught our kiddo to hug their favorite toy and kiss their favorite toy so it was something THEY were doing to sooth themself. Seems to help calm them but didnt make the night any easier. 
It is either that or night terrors and if that is the case show them the stars or moon (change of scene) or get cool night air to help kiddo reset from the dream. Also, sometimes if kiddo (or you) are too hot that can make dreams worse.
