Did I test too early

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong group I had a cycle on 26th November I'm roughly 12dpo my next cycle was due yesterday 21st December but it never showed I have done a test on the first  day of my missed period yesterday and it was negative did I test too early has anyone else had this and got a bfp later on or am I out this month for ttc and my cycle is just late if anyone else has had this please can I get some advice

Update I am now 6 days late took another test on boxing days when my period was 5 days late it was negative still but had light pink bleeding this morning 27th December still getting nausea hot flushes mood swings peeing more etc but after I the pink Bleedi g started my hot flushes and nausea got worse and I started to get very mild cramps so I think my period is definitely on the way thank you so much for your help I'm gutted I'm out for this month but will Try again. Next time and hopefully I will fall pregnant soon

I had one tiny one spot of blood but period still will wait and retest in a few days or a week

It's possible that it was too early. I'd wait a few more days to see if your period shows up since they can be late for a lot of different reasons. If it still doesn't show in a few days, I'd test again.
