Why is my best friend not happy for me?
My best friend for literally most of my life (met at 15, we are now 33), is not happy for me and my newfound success. I decided to take a big risk two years ago and open up a food truck. I love cooking and I always have and this has always been my dream. My food truck became so popular I won awards, and I had the opportunity to purchase land and build a physical restaurant. We are in the process of the build and it should be completed in the spring. I have received so much support from my community and am so happy and proud of myself. My best friend though will not speak a word about it. Any time I bring it up, she responds “hm that’s crazy” or “that’s cool.” Like she has zero enthusiasm. She has never congratulated me or promoted me and my business. She won’t even come to my food truck because “she doesn’t like that kind of food”. I serve American traditional food… burgers, brats, ribs, bbq, etc. I’ve literally seen her eat McDonald’s many times so I know it’s BS. I just texted her this morning that my social media page has gathered nearly 2 million views and I’m so pumped and she responded “crazy.” Then proceeded to text me “you see how cold it’s gonna get this weekend?” I celebrate ALL of her successes. I build her up. I constantly tell her she’s amazing and can do anything she puts her mind to. Yet she is not happy at all for me for my literal dream coming true. I’m so heartbroken from her behavior and don’t understand why I can’t just have a true friend. 😔
