How long does it take breast engorgement to go away/get better?

FTM here and I made the mistake of oversupplying early on. Only 1wk pp and my breasts are engorged and leaky daily. I hand express to relive the pressure but they’re still hard and swollen. Baby will not latch when they’re like this either.

You didn’t make a mistake at all. Everyone has over supply after birth. It takes 6-8wks for it to regulate. Try reserve softening to relive the engorgement for baby to latch. And only hand express to take off the pressure. Other than that latch latch latch.

that’s normal it’ll regulate to fit babies needs! do you have a pump? i prefer my hand pump better but that’s purely subjective person by person. also grab a haaka is you can those babies are awesome!! just try to remember the more you’re pumping the more your body will make milk at least until it’s regulated. my doctor told me to strictly breast feed no pumping for the first month or so for this reason. i still only pump when absolutely necessary and my boobs are super full but i’m lucky enough to stay home with my baby so i don’t need a freezer supply
