Due date and induction
Hi I am from Australia, specifically north QLD. I was told by 2 friends today who have had babies at different hospitals from each other who are also "geriatric" that they weren't allowed to go past their due date. They were to be induced if baby didn't arrive by their due date. Lucky for them their babies decided to arrive just before their due dates without being induced.
My midwife hasn't mentioned this to me at all, and I actually never thought to bring it up but will at my next appointment. Im booked Into the birth centre at my local general hospital, which is a more natural birthing centre with water births and less intervention. But they are attached to the hospitals should I need it. I was induced with my first 10 days post due date, and had him at the hospital birth suites. My second I had a stretch and sweep on my due date and he came that day at the birth centre. I'd rather not be induced as my second was a far more comfortable experience.
Is this "can't go past the due date" experience been standard for mums over 35?
