There’s some explanation from doctors. “: that the sudden reduction in heart rate and blood pressure results in sudden pressure changes in the middle ear and reduction of blood flow to the inner ear.” 
It happens sometimes to me and I guess it’s normal.

My hearing gets muffled for a little bit afterwards sometimes so I’m sure it is. Especially since I’m sure your hearing eventually comes back.
