I am wondering.. so at what point is male-female interaction inappropriate?

I'll edit for some context :

(I didn't add it in the first place because I wanted genuine reactions to "what is appropriate" and not a response to the situation per se. I'm adding it because I'm going to bed)

I'm asking this because my male colleague who I get along with, responded to my Facebook story wishing everyone a merry Christmas.

My partner works at thesame company and he doesn't like this guy because he's muscular and therefore dumb, according to my partner.

I have worked with him on a few cases and he's kind. Doesn't seem to have a motive or anything, his girlfriend also works at our company and she's everything. She is the kindest prettiest most accomplished woman in our company, she is worth looking up to forreal. Not that it matters but it's truth that I have huge respect for her.

Anyways my partner has been pretty shitty about me having contact with males and particularly spoke ill of this guy and I feel inclined to hide our conversation which was basically "merry Christmas" "yes merry Christmas to you and your family too" because of my partner's behavior.

(he will shout at me (though he claims it's not shouting) and call me names, say it's inappropriate and that if I respect our relationship I would not talk to other guys)
