Finally Getting Answers
I have been menstruating for 15 years now, and I've always complained of heavy, painful, irregular periods along with facial and body hair and weight gain. After being dismissed for so long by previous doctors, I decided to bring it up to my OBGYN today at my yearly exam. He sent me for blood work, and said my symptoms are likely due to PCOS. I know it's not a definitive diagnosis yet, but it's relieving to finally be taken seriously without getting birth control shoved down my throat to make me bleed on a schedule. He said that depending on what my blood work says, he will be prescribing a monthly progesterone to start regulating my cycles. I have a lot of mixed feelings going on right now, but I'm glad that my suspicions are getting me somewhere
