I’m 9 wks 5 days and my first ultrasound was yesterday. The radiologist noted possible high nuchal translucency at 2.7mm. Of course google is making me freak out. Anyone have something similar?

For anyone that has had a similar experience. I wanted to reassure you. We had our follow-up ultrasound today and the translucency measurement went down to 1.5mm. Our genetic testing also came back and was negative for everything. It really is not accurate until between 11-14 weeks. So relieved and happy :)

Less than 6 mm is fine. Confirmed my nurse at my ob office.

6mm is for the nuchal fold which is measured from about 18-22 weeks. Nuchal translucency is measured in 1st trimester and normal is anything less then 3mm.

I’m an ultrasound tech and nuchal translucency is only accurate when baby measures between 40-84mm. At 40mm, baby is about 10w6d. I would have a second scan when you are actually in the time frame. Anything outside of that time frame is not accurate and doesn’t mean anything. The radiologist shouldn’t have even commented on it this early.

Molly thank you so much, you brought tears to my eyes with relief! I’ll just keep calm until I have the next ultrasound. Thank you again.

Are you going to have the NIPT done? Your OB will probably suggest it since you’re NT was a little high. I wouldn’t stress about it… It doesn’t mean anything for certain.

Yes I’m assuming I will, but I haven’t heard from my doctor, I just saw the notes from the radiologist. Thank you!
