Gilbert?

I recently stumbled across this name again and love it but my husband is super against it for some reason. Do you like this name for a baby boy? 
It reminds me of Gilbert Blythe (our last name is not Blythe but does start with a B) from Ann of Green Gables but my husband says it makes him think of gagging. He also says the shortened version is Gil and thinks kids might tease him by asking if it's Gil like gills on a fish

Honestly it’s a name that makes me think “ew” 
I would never date a guy with that name, so I’d think of my sons future love life & wouldn’t name him something that would turn a girl off.

My husband was almost named Gilbert and was going to be called Gil. He says he's glad his parents changed their mind because it reminds him of an old sea captain and now whenever I hear it that's all I can think about. 😂
