Potty learning

My little guy just turned 15 months and has been consistently asking for diaper changes as soon as he pees for about a month now. He started grunting right before he pees and looking down so I just started keeping his diaper off and little potty close. As soon as he grunts I grab the potty put it in front of him and he goes. We've only done this for about a day and a half but he's starting to expect the potty and will wait for us before he pees. We've had some success and I have also been pees on when he doesn't signal. Is anyone else going through this and have any advice on how to help him be more consistent? I know he's young and we aren't pressuring him just trying to follow his lead but this is our first and I have no clue what I'm doing
