Did anyone else struggle conceiving after a ectopic pregnancy?

I struggled for years thinking I was infertile got test ran on both me and my husband but nothing came back wrong so we kept trying, because I really want to experience this form of motherhood. Finally I got my first positive pregnancy test EVER and I’m super excited but then come pain and bleeding and my blood work is abnormal for the pregnancy. We get the news that it’s ectopic, and I have two choices. First choice is to go into emergency surgery but I may lose the tube all together and the second choice though it’s not definite is to get what’s essentially a chemo shot to terminate the pregnancy. I cried in my doctors office for an hour scared to make the wrong choice but ultimately I went with the shot in hopes to keep the tube. And with my luck the first to painful shots didn’t work the whole way I was still showing pregnant based on blood work, this meant another round of shots. I don’t know why but the second set had me bed ridden for two days straight and I still haven’t felt the same since. But finally I passed the horrible phase of pain and having my “period” non stop and I can start trying again. It’s been months and no sign of pregnancy. I feel like I’m starting over all over again and I don’t know what to do. Any tips?
