Thc and breastfeeding ? (State of Missouri )

I’m due in march with my 4th baby, but first baby I’m trying to breastfeed. I have my med card , I want to be able to smoke for my mental heath, and other reason. I’ve been looking around and not sure if I can smoke and breastfeed too. I don’t want negative comments, or tell me to as the doc , I’m going to talk to them too. Just wanted to hear what other moms have to say. 🌹

No it’s not safe at all. It’s either you find a different way to deal with your mental health and still be able to breastfed or you give formula if you choose to still smoke. Even then it’s not healthy for baby to be around either.

It’s not safe. If you plan on breastfeeding I would refrain from smoking, if you plan on smoking I would refrain from breastfeeding. There is simply not enough research on the long term effects & it’s not worth the risk.

Yes I would and I have with both my children. Maybe ingesting it differently also if you want to. 
Only .4 percent goes through the breastmilk. 
I’d use Cannabis over any other counter medicine made in a lab approved for breastfeeding. All those medicines full of chemicals that they take from antidepressants to anxiety pills, way way worse.

I reside in Missouri and used to work for children’s division for years. I’ve taken custody of a baby who was positive at birth for THC & mom continued to smoke and breastfeed & refused to stop. Outside of the fact there isn’t research on babies & smoking  with nursing, you risk unknown potential health issues for the baby. Second hand smoke it also an issue. Let alone yes- CD can be involved & take custody regardless if it’s now “legal” here.

I'd be cautious of the effects of second and third hand smoke around your baby. Could you use oils instead? What support to do you currently have for your MH issues? It's so important to let your post natal health team know you struggle

My husband was diagnosed with stage iv cancer when I was pregnant with our second child, and his father was a smoker until just a couple years ago. I would not risk any smokers around my children and potentially put them through what I have seen my husband go through. I have gone to psychotherapy sessions postpartum. I also have apps like Insight Timer and Simple Habits.
