What actually happens at your 6 week pp checkup? Is there usually an internal examination or do they just ask you questions?

I didn’t have one with my first daughter because of COVID, they limited in person appts as much as possible so I just got a phone call and they basically just asked if I felt ok.

I’m now 12w pp with my second and I just haven’t had time to get to an appointment. I had one scheduled and had to cancel it because my husband got delayed coming home from a work trip so I had no one to watch the kids. We don’t have a car, I was going to ride my bike but couldn’t with the babies, and it would have taken me ages on public transport to get there so I canceled it. And it honestly has just been the last thing on my mind or my list of priorities so I haven’t rescheduled.

So now I’m just wondering if it’s even necessary for me to have one at all since it’s been so long?

ETA: my baby’s doctor is a 5 min walk from the house, that’s not an issue. My midwife practice is where I’d have to go for my appt and that’s much further.
