head smacking?!

when my 11 month old is tired or nursing to fall asleep he will smack himself in the head, not super hard just a repeated tap until i hold his hand down and then he’ll eventually just fall asleep. is this normal? he doesn’t do it all the time only when he’s tired.. i think it may be to fight sleep?

It’s normal, and not necessarily him trying to fight sleep, it could be a soothing method.
